97.3 Apple FM, is Taunton’s original Community Radio Station, starting back in 1969 as Taunton Hospital Radio before moving to Community based Apple AM in 2004 and then Apple FM in 2013. The station has changed, adapted and moved with the times over the 50 plus years it’s been running.
Staffed entirely by volunteers the station broadcasts 7 days a week, there is an amazing range of shows produced by local presenter from Country to Dance Music, Chart to Golden Oldies there is a show to meet everyone’s musical tastes, we are truly different every time you listen.
The only station in Taunton run entirely by volunteers we never take a day off because we love what we do.
On the 11th May Apple FM pasted 10 years of broadcasting on 97.3FM in the Taunton area and with the 5 year extension to the licence received from Ofcom we can continue to deliver community radio for Taunton.
This year Apple FM has supported Taunton Town Council in February with their installation of the Somerset Dragon and St Margaret’s Hospice with their Colour Run in May and also in May two presenters from the station did a 24-Hour Radio Show over the late May Bank Holiday Monday, raising over £1000 for the station and to help with the running costs.
Next year we celebrate 20 years of broadcasting to the community with plans to increase our coverage on DAB in association with other stations in the area.
